This sculpture is part of a series I made called “Opposites Unite.”  The series reflects my yearning for harmony between living things.  In the piece, instead of the raccoon preying upon the chicken, I have the two untied.  I completed the “Opposites Unite” series in January 2020 for my solo show in February at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, Sebastopol, CA. My exhibition ended before its run as a result of COVID-19.  I feel this body of work is more pertinent today because of the pandemic, the death of George Floy, and the divide that our country’s political unrest has caused. Come to my studio to see in person, please contact me and schedule an appointment.

My passion for working with clay began as a young girl when I discovered that I loved playing the the mud.  I went on to study ceramics at Philadelphia College of Art, AKA University of the Arts, where I received my BFA in 1980.  Primitive art that depicts animals in a raw, rustic style which spawn and inspire my work along with modern artists such as Henry Moore, Costantin Brancusi, and Pablo Picasso whose work reflects a more subjective take on reality.
